Definition

Petasin gehört zu einer Gruppe von spasmolytisch und antiphlogitisch wirksamen bizyklische Sesquiterpene Petasine) die v.a. in Extrakten von Petsides hybridus, dem gemeinen oder gewöhnlichen Pestwurz vorkommt. Neben Petasin werden in Extrakten von Petsides hybridus weitere bizyklische Sesquiterpene gefunden wie: Neopetasin, Isopetasin. Die Petasine sind für Petasitidis rhizoma  im wesentlichen wirksamkeitsbestimmend. 

Pharmakodynamik (Wirkung)

In experimentellen Studien wirken Petasine antientzündlich, hemmen die Phosphodiesterase und reduzieren Albumin-induzierte allergische Reaktionen. In anderen Studien konnte ein antiallergischer Effekt, möglicherweise durch eine Inhibition von eosinophilen Granulozyten nachgewiesen werden. In vitro-Studien hemmte Petasin signifikant die Proliferation und Migration von humanen Kolonkarzinom-Zelllinien und induzierte Apoptose . Die Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass Petasin ein potenzieller Kandidat für die Therapie von Dickdarmkrebs ist (Lyu X et al. 2019). Weitere Ergebnisse deuten auf ähnliche Effekte beim Prostatakarzinom und beim Melanom (Wang ZH et al. 2015; Guo L et al. 2020).
