Frangulae cortex

Medizinisch genutzte, im Ph.Eur.2 monogrpahierte, getrocknete Rinde der Zweige und der jüngeren Stämme von Franula alnus dem Feinblättrigen Faulbaum. 

Wirksamkeitsbestimmende Inhaltsstoffe: zahlreiche Hydroxyanthracenglykoside v.a. vom Aloe- Emodin-Typ sowie Glycoside des Emodins (davon 80-90% C-Glykoside vom Typ des Aloins sog. Cascaroside);  desweiteren Frangulin A  und Frangulin B und  Saponine, seltener auch  Bitterstoffe und Gerbstoffe (Tannine). 

Laxierend, antiabsorptiv.

Indikation: chronische Obstipation, 

0,5-2,0g als 10% Dekokt  20,0g. Dauer der Einnahme 1-2 Wochen.

Die frische Droge wirkt emetisch (frische Rinde enthält  Anthrone und Dianthrone, die in abgelagerter Rinde nicht mehr vorhanden sind). 

Kontraidikationen: Ileus, akut entzündliche Darmerkrankungen, unklare abdominale Schmerzen
