Definition

Isopropyl dibenzoylmethane ist eine Substanz mit der Summenformel: C18H18O2, die in kosmetischen Rezepturen als UV-Absorber eingesetzt wird. Sie ist in Ethanol und Fetten gut löslich. Isopropyl dibenzoylmethane weist ein UV-Absorptionsmaximum zwischen 310 und 360nm auf.

Unerwünschte Wirkungen

Kontaktallergische und photokontaktallergische Reaktionen auf 4-isopropyl-dibenzoylmethane sind nicht selten (de Groot AC et al. 1987; Schauder S et al. 1988); s.a. Ekzem photoallergisches. In einem größeren Kollektiv (n=57) von Patienten mit Photokontaktsensibilisierungen (s. Photoallergen) konnten Oxybenzone und Isopropyl dibenzoylmethane als die häufigsten Auslöser identifiziert werden (Journe F et al. 1999).
