Biographische Angaben

  • (¤ 24.11.1864, † 1938) Dermatologe, tätig in Paris. Sabouraud wurde als Sohn eines Kunstmalers in Nantes geboren. Studium in Nantes, später in Paris. Seit 1887 Assistent am Hôpital Cochin in Paris, wo er bei Georges Saintford Octave Dujardin-Beaumetz (1833-1895) erste mikrobiologische Studien absolvierte. 1889 begann er noch als Student seine dermatologische Ausbildung bei Jean Baptiste Emile Vidal (1825-1893) und Ernest Henri Besnier (1831-1909) am Hôpital St. Louis, Paris. 1890 Approbation. 1891 nahm er eine Assistentenstelle am Hôpital Saint Antoine auf. Angeleitet durch Pierre-Paul-Émile Roux (1853-1933), gründete er sein eigenes mikrobiologisches Institut. 1894 Promotion. Sabouraud war ein international anerkannter Mykologe und Dermatologe. Außergewöhnliche dermatologische Reputationen erwarb sich Sabouraud auf dem Gebiet der Erkrankungen des Kapillitiums. "It is said that Sabouraud can tell your moral character, the amount of your yearly income and what you have eaten for breakfast by looking at the root of one of your hairs." (RL Thompson).
